North Yorkshire Council consultation on Public Space Protection Orders - dog control
From NYC deadline 17 March 2025 for responses
"We are currently reviewing the dog control rules that apply to public spaces in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby, known as Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). The PSPO outlines areas in which a dog must be put on a lead when directed, rules around dog fouling and any dog exclusion areas. This is in place to help ensure everyone can enjoy the many beautiful open spaces and beaches we have in this part of the county and to help protect the wildlife.
Following a previous consultation in 2023 and some feedback received, we have identified a number of areas that need to be reviewed. Therefore, we would welcome the public's views on the public spaces identified in the revised PSPO. This includes removing dog restrictions (rules around dog fouling remain) from Olivers Mount playing fields and Tate Hill Beach, and adding Valley Road Gardens (south side of Valley Road) and Linden Close, Sleights.
It would be appreciated if you would take the time to complete the questionnaire (no more than 10 minutes) and please forward this email to anyone you believe would want to take part in the consultation.
