Have Your Say on next year’s funding for the Police and Fire Services |
This is the latest information on the work of Police, Fire and Crime team at the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority Early next year, David Skaith, the Mayor for York and North Yorkshire, will set the amount from your Council Tax that goes to North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. This money is included in your council tax bill and is called a 'precept'. |
In order to inform his decision David Skaith, the Mayor would like to hear your views. The principles on which he plans to make his final decision are below, but we would also like to know if you agree with these principles: - The minimum possible burden on local taxpayers
- Having effective, well managed public services that keep people safe and deliver value for money
- Delivering on local public priorities for both services, including improving the safety of our roads
The survey should take no longer than 7 minutes to complete. If you require this information in a different language or format, please contact the Policing, Fire and Crime Team at info@northyorkshire-pfcc.gov.uk or call us on 01423 569 562 to request a copy. You can also download a paper copy of the survey to print and return. |
16 Days of Action, Violence Against Women and Girls |
 |
| Mayor and Deputy Mayor have reconfirmed their commitment to the White Ribbon campaign during the course of the 16 days of action against violence against women and girls. Progress over the last year includes a new women’s centre in Scarborough (in addition to the women’s centre in York), a new rape and sexual assault centre for victims to ensure they get the help and support they need, a new Start Safe Stay Safe app to encourage increased reporting of street based harassment, and a accommodation project in York in partnership with the probation service supporting some of the city’s most vulnerable women. As well as this, we've increased support for our domestic abuse services to ensure we are able to meet the needs of victims regardless of where they live in the region, and a new online service directory setting out all the support services women and girls can access in our region. If you have been a victim of violence or abuse, don’t suffer in silence. You do not need to have reported to the police to get the support you need, and our Supporting Victims service will be running across the Christmas period (with the exception of bank holidays). Our Supporting Victims service will be running every day apart from the bank holidays. If support is needed outside their working hours, please call the Victim Support Free National Support line: 08 08 16 89 111 |
